All Party Parliamentary Group on Tranquilliser Addiction-APPG

My previous blog contained an error, and so did my response to Richard Smith.
There was no Health Committee Inquiry (I wonder why?). There were APPGs.

The two All Party Parliamentary Groups (APPGs) were:

1.
APPG on Drug Misuse
This is the Inquiry I was invited to give oral evidence to with Professor Ashton, Pam Armstrong
(CITA), Janice Simmons (Seroxat User Group), Mick Behan (Benzo researcher)

This APPG was followed by a Department of Health Review of Policy on Addiction to Prescribed Medicines - this included
Benzodiazepines and Z drugs and SSRIs. (Now the SSRIs seem to have dropped out of the picture).
in July 2009 it was meant to be a 3 month review yet is still not concluded.
Speak to Anne Milton MP (Public Health Minister) if you are concerned, she is responsible for medicines policy.

2.
APPG on Involuntary Tranquilliser Addiction - Chair Jim Dobbin MP ably helped by Mick Behan. They are
uncovering shocking information about loss of original safety data on benzos. Take a look at their
web site! www.appgita.com
